Veterans Outreach
Oct. 25, 2017
I enlisted in Nov 2009 in the US. Air Force. My first duty station was Ramstein AB Germany where I was security for COMUSAFE (Commander in Chief, United States Air Force in Europe). Deployed to the Herat province of Afghanistan where I established the first law enforcement section for that area, meant to enforce military law and support locals who were assisting US. Forces during their operations in that region. Separated in Nov of 2013, moved to San Luis Obispo where I became a volunteer with the County Veterans Services Office while attending Cuesta College to study psychology in hopes of one day becoming a therapist who can assist my fellow veterans. |

Hi fellow Rotarians, Please join us for our first Golf meeting of the year at my house. Food will be provided, so please RSVP by registering for this event so I (haha... Ilona can) properly plan for the food! This is one of the two big fundraisers for our club. An effort like this needs everyone's help. We have a great history with our tournament but with the continuous competition from other golf tournaments it needs our full attention. I'm convinced that we can get a full slate of golfers like we have done in the past and that we can raise more money than ever before. However, this can only be reached by going all out in our efforts, together, as a club. I'm excited still after all these years to be a part of the Rotary Club of Nipomo, it feels good to give back to the community but above all, it feels good to do this with my Rotary family!! Hope to see you there Cees Dobbe Cees@Dobbe.biz (805) 540-4748 Golf tournament director for 2018 PS please note this is Tuesday January 9 (not Monday like some idiot announced at the last meeting) |

Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County
Mar. 21, 2018
Kevin Drabinski has served as the CEO of the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County since Valentine’s Day 2017. During 2017, the Food Bank delivered 5 million pounds of food to the one in six persons in our county who have limited or uncertain ability to acquire nutritionally adequate and safe food. Fully half of the food distributed was produce. Some 40% of the food distributed went to children while 20% went to seniors. The strength of the Food Bank lies in being a coalition. It serves as the primary source of food for 94 agency partners throughout the county who help in our mission to alleviate hunger and build a healthier community. The Food Bank moved into its new warehouse across from the airport in San Luis Obispo in November 2016, and it is from this location that the needs of those who hunger will be met for the next generation. Kevin is a 30 year resident of San Luis Obispo where he and his wife raised their two loving daughters. |
