Rotary during "Shelter at Home"

Wade Nomura is a past District Governor to Disttrict 5240.   

Wade is going to speak to us about what we can do to impact the community while under "Shelter at Home" orders.

Wade and his wife Debbie are both active Rotarians. Wade is a charter member (2002) of the Rotary Club of Carpinteria Morning. He served as the District Governor in 2011-2012. He is a charter Paul Harris Society member, Major Donor, Bequest Society Member, and recipient of the Rotary International “Service Above Self” Award and the Rotary Foundation’s “Citation for Meritorious Service” and “Distinguished Service” Award. Wade has been on over 50 international trips for Rotary, including an NID to India, where he has a special passion, having had polio as a child. 

Wade is an International Technical Coordinator of Cadres for Water and Sanitation, and Community and Economic Development in English and Spanish speaking countries, Rotary International President’s Representative for Tanaka, Burton, Heung, Ravindran, Germ, Riseley, Rassin and Maloney,  2014 and 2020 Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee Chair, 2016 and 2019 Rotary International Council on Legislation delegate, the 2017 Southern Cal/Nevada PETS Chair, and produces and hosts the TV show “Rotary, Serving Our Community” that you can see at www.WeAreRotary.TV and features a number of shows on the Rotary Foundation.

Wade has been involved with projects in nearly 30 different countries on 5 different continents for Rotary. As a Cadre, he has evaluated 20 Global Grant projects totaling $3.5 million and benefitting over 1 million people. 

At the local level, Wade is the president of an award-winning landscape company. He is the Mayor of the City of Carpinteria, President of the Carpinteria Boys and Girls Club Foundation, President of the Santa Barbara Junior Golf Tour, and President of the Santa Barbara Japanese American Citizens League.

Wade was a multiple BMX National Champion and was inducted into the Japanese American National Museum “Hall of Fame” during a special tribute to Japanese American Athletes for the 2001 “More Than A Game” exhibit for his accomplishments in the sport of BMX and for racing a bike that he designed and built. The Nomura Racing bike has since become an icon among the avid BMX collectors.
